Individual Therapy
Adolescents
After 20 years of working one on one tutoring and teaching middle and high school students, I have learned how to connect and communicate with teenagers. Working with teens is my great passion. The teenage years bring so many challenges but also so many opportunities for growth. It is a continued privilege to be a part of helping young people come into their own.
Emerging Adults
The late teens through late 20s is a whole new ballgame. Independence, finances, identity, interpersonal relationships—these are especially challenging as people transition from childhood to adulthood. I help emerging adults identify and break dysfunctional patterns and build healthy life skills that carry them into successful adult lives.
Neurodivergent Affirming
I combine personal experience and professional expertise to offer neurodivergent affirming care that honors differences, autonomy, and self-acceptance. My office is quiet and not brightly lit. I have a ton of fidgets and fidget and stim myself all the time. No one is expected to sit still or make eye contact. I offer non-traditional session lengths as needed. Many of my clients are high masking. I provide a lot of psychoeducation on how masking is contributing to feelings of overwhelm and negative self-identity.
LGBTQIA+
My family flies all the flags: bi, pan, ace, trans, non-binary… I am more than just an ally. A queer woman myself, I am connected to Greater Boston’s queer community. Many of my clients identify as LGBTQIA+. I am especially proud of being a resource for queer youth.
Ethical Non-Monogamy
Many therapists are supportive but not truly competent in ENM. You should not have to educate your therapist. You should not have to work with someone who does not understand your relationships, believes them to be a phase, or tries to link all of your issues to your relationships. Being non-monogamous is part of who you are. It’s not all of who you are. As a polyamorous clinician, I combine my own experience with the latest literature to offer you the highest level of culturally competent counseling.
Kink
As a sex affirming therapist, I am a safe space to discuss kinks and fetishes. I will never judge and will help you learn to embrace who you are and to communicate your needs and desires with current and future partners in positive, productive ways.
Chronic Pain
My research in graduate school focused on mental health interventions to improve quality of life with chronic pain. I went on to lead Advocates Chronic Pain therapy groups and to offer adolescent chronic therapy groups of my own. This is a personal issue for me. I both have chronic pain and parent a young adult who has dealt with chronic pain since middle school. There is life despite chronic pain.
Though I specialize in working with neurodivergent and/or queer teens and emerging adults, with adults who identify as LGBTQIA+, consensually non-monogamous/polyamorous, or kinky, and with people who experience chronic pain, I work with individuals age 12+ of all genders and sexual orientations. Together, we work on issues of exploring identity; communication; vulnerability; boundary setting; jealousy; navigating relationships with friends, family, and colleagues; family dynamics; and more. Many of my clients struggle with depression, general anxiety, social anxiety, ADHD, neurodivergences, or feelings of low self-worth.
